We are delighted to announce 2 recent awards from the Dallas Observer. BTWHSPVA theater teacher Vickie Washington was named best theater director of 2015 by the paper. From the Observer… “With this season’s world premiere of Dallas playwright Jonathan Norton’s moving drama Mississippi Goddamn, vickie washington (she likes it lower case) reminded us that she’s one of the finest stage directors in North Texas.”
Also, Artistic Director Lily Weiss was named one of 10 Brilliant Women in Dallas. A former dance teacher and cluster coordinator, she was lauded for being “a mentor for the next generation.”
I hope everyone had the opportunity to see Hair. What an amazing production by our BTW students, staff & volunteers.
Looking forward in the Theatre Cluster…. we have Theophilus North opening in the MAT on October 14 and running through October 23. Right on its heels we have A Call to Action: Blues for Mr. Charlie/Radium Girls running November 3-7, 11-13 in the Black Box Theatre. I’m confident that the BTW community will support our hard working students by attending both of these productions.
Remember the Theatre Guild produces playbills for all our shows. If you are interested in a tribute or ad in our playbills contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
I would like to offer special thanks to all my volunteers who are diligently working to make this school year run smoothly. I am so appreciative for all the time and energy the Theatre Cluster’s parents put into making their children’s experience at BTW the best High School experience in Dallas. I’ll say it now; and I’ll say it later, THANK YOU!
